Grading Policy
- There are two midterms during the semester, the final grade is calculated from the midterm results. (This is a mid-term mark course, there is no final exam.) Both midterms are expected to consist of 6 problems and one extra (usually harder) problem, each problem is worth 10 points. For a passing grade one has to obtain at least 24 points on both midterms.
- The final mark is calculated from the average of the points obtained on the two midterms (without rounding) as follows. 51 points or more: EXCELLENT, 42 points or more but less than 51: GOOD, 33 points or more but less than 41: SATISFACTORY, 24 points or more but less than 33: PASS. Less than 24: FAIL. It is also FAIL if at least one of the midterms is below 24 points.
- There is one repeat midterm and forboth midterms, respectively. The material, rules are the same for the repeat midterm as for the original ones. The result of the repeat midterm overwrites the result of the original. The only exception is that if a passing midterm is repeated and the repeat midterm is below 24 points, then the result of that midterm will be 24 points. (That is a passing midterm cannot be failed by writing the repeat midterm.)
- There is one more repeat occasion during the make-up week for those, who have exactly one passed midterm. They may repeat the failed one on the occasion.
